DEA Red Ribbon Helicopter Presentation
During the month of October, the Texas Joint Counterdrug Task Force (JCDTF), in partnership with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), local law enforcement agencies (LEA), and community-based organizations (CBO), bring the message of drug demand awareness, reduction and prevention to Elementary and Middle School students.
The helicopter will be landing around 8:15 and then the presentation will begin. This event is open to parents and the community. All guests will enter through the bus parking lot gate. Please make sure you have a photo I.D. Please see the map below for staging purposes. You may bring your own chair and sit with your child's grade level.
📚 Storybook Parade
On Friday, October 29th, we will have our Storybook Character Dress-Up Day. All costumes need to be associated with a book. This can be a book that students bring with them on that day, from the library, or one they write themselves, but all costumes must be accompanied by a book. No masks, face paint, or scary/bloody/gory costumes, please. Students should bring a change of clothes if their outfit will not allow for classroom learning and physical activity afterward as it will be Fall Festival during specials as well. Due to LHISD COVID-19 guidelines, the storybook parade will be hosted outside so that visitors and parents will be able to attend this campus event.
A staging map for parents will be shared soon. You may park in the front or side (bus) parking lots and you may bring your own chair. Please do not park in the car rider line.
🧁Elementary Birthday Policy
We love to celebrate student birthdays here at Santa Rita! However, we do have birthday policies in place to protect students who may have food allergies and policies regarding party invitations. Additionally, this year, we are asking that all birthday treats be store-bought and individually wrapped. You may also provide non-edible birthday treats in lieu of food items. Below is LHISD's Elementary Handbook policy regarding birthdays.
"Birthdays: Please coordinate with your child’s teacher one week prior. Parents are welcome to bring commercially prepared baked goods or non-edible ‘goodies.’ Treats will be shared at a prearranged day and time agreed upon by the teacher based on the policy of each individual elementary school. Please do not send balloons or flowers to your child’s classroom as it causes a distraction to the instruction day. As a district, we value the inclusion of all. For this reason, IF you send birthday party invitations to school to be distributed, you MUST invite all students in the classroom."
For information on other policies, please visit the Elementary Handbook.
Peanut-Free Zone
Garner/Malone Homeroom Classes: Both classes are peanut-free. Please save the peanut snacks and lunch items for home. Thank you for helping us keep the classroom safe for all of our friends!
Transportation Changes
All transportation changes need to be submitted to the office no later than 1:00pm. Please visit the LHISD Transportation Change Request site before sending the notice to the SRE transportation change email. We are asking that parents remind their students to always go to their normal dismissal location unless they have a note from the office. Thank you!
